Glogster- Go crazy with your collages

What it is:
Glogster debuted in 2007 as a unique social network based on the creation and sharing of Glogs - interactive posters loaded with text, graphics, music, videos, and more. Glogster’s goal was to provide an outlet for unlimited creative expression online. It didn’t take long for users to get hooked! In 2009 Glogster launched Glogster EDU, a secure learning platform for teachers and students. Today, Glogster empowers millions of people all over the world with a space to express their emotions, ideas, and knowledge online. Glogster is Yours!

With this tool, you can create pretty much any kind of poster you want. You choose a background, add pictures, clip art, and music or videos, and you have an awesome poster! I had a few issues with this site. It blocked me from accessing the site on-and-off for a while. The page that came up said "The server was reset while the page was loading". Embedding the example (at the bottom of the page) was a real pain- I had to teach myself about the HTML code overflow property, then spend half an hour playing with the size so that the whole picture would fit. The site itself worked fine, though. I really liked the animated clip art. I don't have a whole lot of uses for this site, but my sister tells me the fifth graders use it all the time, so there must be some practical use for it. This site was fairly decent.

If you're interested in embedding one of these, I'd suggest you brush up on your basic HTML code (next section), then read the webpage at the link below.
How to use the HTML overflow property

If you're unfamiliar with HTML, this might be a good place to start. While not directly helpful with the overflow property, it helps you figure out which parts of the code you really shouldn't mess with.
Beginning HTML code

This is a quick Tutorial. It's for a slightly different version of glogster- I think it's the education version, edu.glogster.com- but the menu style is really the only difference.

Here's the Glog I made. You have to use the scrollbar at the bottom of the screen to see all of it- I know it's a pain in the neck, but it's the only way I could get it to work. If the scrolling is really annoying you, there's a link to the original below the glog, so you can see it all at once.. Oh, yeah- and ignore the "View Full Size" button that pops up when you mouse over the Glogster logo. It doesn't actually do anything.

IMPORTANT! After reading this, please click on the text box on the glog (the neon green shape), then click any piece of white space on this page- it doesn't matter where. Then, check to make sure the text on the Glog doesn't have a blinking cursor in it. If it does have a cursor, click the white space again. This is necessary to prevent anyone from accidentally editing the text- a slightly annoying feature of Glogster. If you don't do this, it will let you accidentally edit and/or delete my text. This goes for the one on Glogster.com that's linked below the embedded version too!
